11-year-old Harriet (Michelle Trachtenberg) is encouraged in her writing aspirations by her nanny and friend Golly (Rosie O'Donnell), who tells her to write down everything she sees. This Harriet does with some gusto, but when her friends discover what Harriet has been writing about them in her secret notebook, the budding authoress finds herself rejected and alone.
