Stephen (Academy Award-nominee James Franco) is a successful author with self-destructive tendencies, dark childhood memories, and a prescription medication addiction. He takes interest in a high profile murder case in which Hans, a wealthy man, is accused of murdering his Russian wife, even though the body has not been found.
