A homage to the rom-coms of the 1960s - especially the Doris Day/Rock Hudson vehicles. Small-town librarian, Barbara Novak (Renee Zellweger) arrives in New York City with big plans and decides to write a novel that embraces feminist views ahead of their time (remember this is set in the 1960s), encouraging independence and a healthy sex-life above a happy relationship and marriage.
