Western drama. US Marshall Johnny Reno (Dana Andrews) is travelling to the town of Stone Junction in Kansas when he is attacked by two outlaws who mistakenly believe he has come to apprehend them. In the gunfight, one of the outlaws is killed, while Reno captures the other and takes him to the lock-up in Stone Junction.
